New Volkswagen Beetle

The legendary Volkswagen Beetle first appeared in the UK in 1953, having first been produced in Germany in 1938.  Production moved to Mexico in 1978, and although Volkswagen stopped offering the Beetle for sale in Europe in 1985, private importers continued to ship new Beetle’s over from Central America until production ceased in 2003.  In 1998 a New Beetle, a contemporary design but with styling clearly designed by its ancestor, was launched, and remained on sale worldwide until 2010.  The current Volkswagen Beetle recently replaced that model, and although it retains the iconic Beetle profile is a completely new model.

The current model of the Volkswagen Beetle is offered on sale in the UK with a price tag of £19,605. The only model currently available in the UK is the Volkswagen Beetle Design 1.4 TSI.  The 3-door, 4-seater hatchback has a top 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, and is powered by a 158bhp, 16-valve, 1.4-litre petrol engine fitted to a 6-speed manual gearbox.  This gives the Volkswagen Beetle a 0-62mph time of 8.3 seconds, a top speed of 129mph, and a combined fuel economy figure of 42.8mpg.  Standard equipment on the Volkswagen Beetle Design 1.4 TSI includes central locking, stability control, alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, alarm and immobiliser, CD player with Bluetooth and MP3 connectivity, and driver, passenger, and front side airbags.  Boot space is a credible 310 litres, rising to 905 litres when the split folding rear seats are lowered.  Optional extras can be added, with metallic paint for £495, cruise control for £235, rear parking sensor for £335, leather seats for £2140, and Sat Nav for £300.

The Volkswagen Beetle Design 1.4 TSI is available for £19,605 from your local Volkswagen main dealer, and comes with a 3-year, 60,000-mile manufacturers warranty.  Full information on the Volkswagen Beetle Design 1.4 TSI can be found on the official UK website of Volkswagen, which will also explain the full terms and conditions of sale.  The website will also help you to locate your nearest Volkswagen main dealer.
